Cory Sergeant, a modern day Black woman software engineer, is trapped in the body of a white man in a fantastically realistic simulation of cotton plantation in 1860.  Who and what can she pretend to be in order to survive?  How can she help the slaves all around her without bringing catastrophe down upon them and on herself?  Who can she share her thoughts, her fears, and her beliefs with?  What lessons can she draw from her life, her parents, and her friends that might guide her in this strange, strange land?  And please, please, please, how can she get out of this sim, and back to her boyfriend, before the plantation’s scoundrel exposes her identity or even kills her?
